Job summary

Qualifications

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in purchasing management in the manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of residential construction products.
  • Experience in the national and international purchasing process.
  • Excellent sense of customer service.
  • Excellent organization and priority management.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Office suite.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems such as SAP.
  • Good communicator, verbal and written.
  • Fluent in French and English; knowledge of Spanish is an asset.

Reporting to the Logistics and Supply lead, the strategic buyer is responsible for ensuring the supply of raw materials in order to ensure production as well as monitoring deliveries. The person will be responsible for purchasing raw material products and obtaining the best costs. Through regular monitoring, he ensures inventory management in collaboration with the various departments and suppliers.

More specifically, the person responsibilities are :

  • Generate and analyze SAP and Power BI reports to ensure that you have the correct “min/max” quantities of stocks in inventory and make purchasing forecasts;
  • Develop, establish and maintain lasting relationships with suppliers in North America, South America or Asia and will be called upon to meet local and foreign suppliers;
  • Negotiate and sign contracts with suppliers to ensure that missing components are obtained in order to avoid delivery delays;
  • Collaborate in the approval process of new suppliers and new SKUs;
  • Ensure the link between the Windsor (Quebec) factory and the corporate departments (“Global sourcing”);
  • Manage returns of goods from suppliers;
  • Manage disputes between transporters and suppliers of raw materials;
  • Supervise the purchasing team to ensure a constant supply of raw materials;
  • Establish objectives for reducing material supply costs to the extent that their quality and delivery times are satisfactory;
  • Inform the planning department when components are not available in order to fulfill customer orders;
  • Transmit information regarding customs clearance to suppliers;
  • Be actively involved in taking annual inventory;
  • Generate purchase orders for different types of raw materials;
  • Notify suppliers of discrepancies in purchase orders and correct them;
  • Change the order status and maintain the accuracy of the delivery date;
  • Analyze reports to identify non-standard orders and those on hold in order to avoid shortages;
  • Confirm the arrival date of orders and plan their receipt accordingly;
  • Actively participate in problem solving sessions with the different teams

Skills required

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in purchasing management in the manufacturing environment;
  • Knowledge of residential construction products required;
  • Experience in the national and international purchasing process required;
  • Excellent sense of customer service;
  • Excellent sense of organization and priority management;
  • Excellent knowledge of the Office suite;
  • Knowledge of different systems allowing inventory management, such as SAP;
  • Good communicator, verbal and written;
  • Fluent in French and English, knowledge of Spanish an asset; (in order to communicate with our English and/or Spanish speaking suppliers)
  • Concept in equipment planning.
