Purpose of Job

The Senior Buyer is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director of Indirect Procurement. They will lead sourcing, negotiation, and contracting activities for Canada-based contracts, with potential support for other regions on an ad hoc basis based on capacity. The primary responsibility is to drive competition, business continuity, supplier performance, and continuous improvement aligned with corporate and business unit strategies and financial goals.

The individual will engage with stakeholders up to the local General Manager for commercial indirect categories, including but not limited to: Professional Services, Marketing & Sales, Promotions, Fleet, Meetings & Events. They will collaborate with the Sourcing Support Services Manager and Global Category Leads to execute sourcing initiatives and contract execution following best practices.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

• Executing contracts and procurement sourcing events to support local business needs or global category strategies, including sourcing suppliers, running tenders, negotiating terms, and executing contracts with legal support.
• Developing local strategies and ensuring alignment with procurement and stakeholders.
• Implementing sourcing strategies and selecting suppliers.
• Analyzing and reporting on supplier spend data, sourcing initiatives, and savings achieved.
• Managing contract expirations, renewals, and updates.
• Identifying opportunities through RFPs, RFIs, quotation analysis, and scope optimization.
• Engaging with country general managers or their teams.
• Conducting supplier evaluations, negotiations, and managing relationships.
• Supporting supplier risk and sustainability assessments and developing mitigation plans.
• Supporting diversity and sustainability initiatives.
• Aligning local category practices with global category strategies.
• Supporting contract negotiations and management, coordinating with legal, and managing stakeholder needs.
• Ensuring procurement activities comply with policies, standards, and regulations.
• Liaising with Legal, Regulatory, Finance, and other functions as needed.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years in indirect services procurement.
• Experience in Pharma or CPG environments preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Finance, Legal, or Business disciplines preferred.
• Understanding of legal issues, contractual principles, and negotiation techniques for complex agreements.
• Proven skills in workload management, data analysis, interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.

Languages

• Fluency in English and French, written and oral, is required.
