Overview

Our client is looking for a Senior Buyer with packaging experience to join their team on-site within Kingsville (Windsor ON). The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience as a Buyer, Purchasing and Inventory Control, with extensive experience in a fast-paced environment within the product, food industry, or CPG sectors. The candidate should have a proven track record in procurement and a strong understanding of sourcing products in a dynamic environment. Position

Position Title: Senior Buyer
Reports to: Purchasing and Inventory Control Manager
Location: Kingsville, Ontario

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain strategic sourcing documents and acquire in-depth subject matter expertise and market intelligence for category.
  • Independently and confidently coordinate highly complex multi-functional strategies.
  • Manage, develop, and nurture supplier relationships to maximize long-term Total Cost of Ownership and minimize business risk.
  • Identify problems and find creative solutions to meet customer demands.
  • Ensure timely and accurate entry and confirmation of purchase orders to support assigned duties.
  • Expedite Purchase Orders as required to meet stakeholder requirements and timelines.
  • Oversee Direct and Indirect Spend categories including Corrugate, Resin, Labels, MRO, Services, and Capex supplies.
  • Build RFQ’s, search suppliers, and issue and award BIDs to provide the best cost benefit to the company.
  • Prepare and present reports regarding market conditions and organizational spend to Senior Management.
  • Analyze inventories to increase inventory flow, reduce waste, and develop appropriate min/max levels.
  • Ensure efficient storage and inventory control.
  • Update Purchasing and Inventory Manager on any current or foreseeable inventory issues.
  • Accurately track and monitor all open purchase orders.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and assist the Inventory Control team with maintaining proper inventory levels.
  • Perform any other job duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Senior Buyer/Intermediate role.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers.
  • Packaging experience.
  • Strong time management skills with an emphasis on meeting deadlines.
  • Highly energetic and assertive with strong leadership skills.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Excel).
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Physical Abilities
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period.
  • Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 °C / 55 °F.

Type of Employment

Full time, permanent, extended hours depending on workload and priorities, which will include Saturdays.
