We are seeking a Senior Buyer for our Power Electronics Division in Georgetown, Ontario. The Senior Buyer is responsible for quoting, negotiating pricing, and purchasing inventory and materials in support of CPI needs.

YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR :

  1. Executing and managing Purchase Orders for the procurement of major / critical commodities, services, and complex procurements, with emphasis on improving supplier quality and lowering total cost of ownership for the program.
  2. Preparing and issuing moderate to high complexity, value, and risk purchase orders and complex agreements, ensuring all procurement actions which commit the company are properly documented, reviewed, and approved consistent with policy and procedure. Can identify risks and mitigate them when negotiating terms and conditions.
  3. Working with management to address all aspects of supply chain management, including procurement support, commodity business plans, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
  4. Coordinating purchasing activities with internal partners to acquire products and services in a cost-effective and timely manner.
  5. Supporting proposal activities with innovative solutions to meet program needs and requirements.
  6. Processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, purchase order revisions, and requests for quotes to suppliers.
  7. Performing cost or price analysis on procurements of moderate to high value, risk, and complexity.
  8. Negotiating and documenting terms and conditions, price, delivery, quality, and performance requirements on moderate to high complexity procurements.
  9. Monitoring the cost, schedule, and scope of assigned procurements to negotiate highest quality at best value.
  10. Developing new supply sources where suppliers are no longer competitive.
  11. Recommending cost-saving proposals or alternative sources.
  12. Interacting with suppliers and QA to resolve quality issues.
  13. Building productive internal/external working relationships.
  14. Coordinating activities of other personnel if necessary.
  15. Conducting supplier onsite visits when necessary.
  16. Performing other duties as needed and assigned.

YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE :

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or APICS certification is required.
  • Minimum of X years of relevant experience; or a master’s degree plus Y years of relevant experience.
  • In-depth knowledge in assigned commodities and advanced decision-making skills.
  • Good judgment within defined procedures and practices.
  • Wide-ranging experience, using professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively.
  • Advanced project management skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, demonstrating superior presentation, communication, team building, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • In-depth knowledge of Supply Management and strategy implementation.
  • Understanding of Government contractor purchasing requirements, Federal Acquisition Regulations / DFAR, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Experience with contractual flow downs, policies, procedures, laws, and applying them in procurement of commodities/services/subcontracts.
  • Experience assisting other buyers with negotiations and obtaining mutually beneficial agreements.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and ability to develop win-win solutions.
  • Ability to meet CGP requirements.
