Job summary

Brainhunter Systems Ltd in Canada seeks a Senior Business Systems Analyst to define complex requirements for cross-system solutions and data flows.

You will work with 3rd party vendors and internal teams, map data structures, and ensure delivery aligns with business objectives. Hybrid work with office twice a week; 4.5-month contract with potential extension.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience, strong analytical skills, and experience with ETL, Databricks, Snowflake.

Qualifications

Work Style: Hybrid – 3 days/week in office

Location city(s): Winnipeg, Toronto (Winnipeg is preferred)

Number of Openings: 2

Anticipated Start Date: 4 weeks from offer date

End Date: 4.5 months from start date - Project will go beyond 2026 and roughly to December 31, 2027. Extension will be requested, however Leader is asking for re‑approval now to extend the duration, and I will reach back if it’s approved

Contractor to work extra time or on‑call: Extra hours of work may be required depending on the needs of the project. No on‑call is required.

Role Title: Senior Business Systems Analyst

Any specific tools/skillset: Experience working with hierarchical data structures (.xml, json). Experience working with System-to-System Integration solutions (Extract Transform Load (ETL)). Experience working with data lakehouse solutions (Databricks, Snowflake).

• Post-secondary degree in a related discipline (Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, etc), or an equivalent combination of post‑secondary education, training and experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with understanding business environments, operations, processes and practices.
• Experience with data mapping and integration processing.
• Experience with requirements gathering and documentation of functional and non‑functional requirements and specifications.
• Experience working with technology project methodologies, processes, and practices.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting tight deadlines.

• Strong customer service focus and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships and provide leadership.

• Previous experience with Investment Systems would be considered an asset.

• The successful candidate will have a proven track record in defining complex requirements for solutions integrated among existing and new systems with legacy and emergent technologies and the ability to effectively work both independently as well as a member of a large local or virtual team.
• They will have experience participating in the delivery/implementation of solutions that are in‑house developed and solutions that are produced/supported by 3rd party suppliers.
• Contributes to the development of the project deliverables, with respect to definition of project scope, estimates for systems analysis tasks, identification of stakeholders, approach, methodology, communication plan, systems analyst resourcing and schedule.
• Gains clear understanding of business problems/opportunities to define and document detailed business requirements and associated detailed system specifications.
• Engages other project team members to identify and document alternatives and recommend solutions.
• Identifies, escalates and contributes to the resolution of project issues and mitigation of project risks.
• Supports Software Developers during software development and testing.
• Works closely with Quality Assurance team members to ensure adequate testing by contributing to test plans, identification of test situations and test cases, execution of test plan and verification that test results meet business expectations.
• Supports project implementation by execution of assigned project implementation activities including verification that system is performing as expected and providing support during project Warranty Period.
• Works directly with 3rd party vendors who supply solutions that will be configured as part of a project, to ensure understanding of the solution and map functionality to requirements (both functional requirements and engineering requirements).

Gain early understanding of a 3rd party solution to identify data that will be contained in the solution and possibly shared with other solutions, to ensure clear end to end identification and classification of all data required.
