Job Title : Senior Business Analyst (with Public Market experience)
Location : Toronto, ON (Canada)
Responsibilities
- Support enterprise-wide initiatives through the application of business analysis tools and techniques. Proactively identify issues involving workflow procedures and processes, identify opportunities for improvement, implement solutions, automate, and innovate.
- Facilitate requirement gathering sessions.
- Document and validate expectations with subject matter experts and drive the creation of strong system specifications that enable the development and / or acquisition of appropriate systems to meet business requirements.
- Collaborate with business & technology stakeholders to understand priorities, product roadmap, existing system and integration environments, and new business requirements to drive progress towards established objectives.
- Liaise with engineers, solution architects and business subject matter experts to brainstorm, develop and document innovative solutions alternatives.
- Evaluate alternatives relative to business requirements and provide advice that is rooted in deep subject matter expertise.
- Participate in process design meetings and translate outcomes into process documentation.
- Conduct process walkthroughs and validation with business subject matter experts.
- Document key risks, mitigating controls, performance measures, cost drivers and business continuity plans for processes.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with competing demands.
- Lead and mentor a team of business analysts and drive priorities to achieve the necessary business outcomes.
Skills Must have
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, or a related discipline; advanced degrees or certifications (CBAP, PMP, CSC) are a plus.
- 8+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in the Capital Market domain with exposure to trading workflows.
- Experience in Trading Systems implementation onboarding various listed and OTC asset classes.
- Knowledge in post-trade workflows is a plus.
- SME in Derivative Products (OTC, exchange-traded derivatives, Over-the-counter derivatives) is a plus.
- Experience with relational databases, data analysis, and data mapping exercises.
- Hands-on experience working with SQL databases (i.e., queries, data analysis), REST API,s and event mechanisms
- Experience with Agile Scrum / Kanban processes, and work management tools : JIRA, Confluence. Participate in backlog refinement, clarifying acceptance criteria and dependencies for prioritized stories and tasks.
- Assist in managing product backlog and roadmap, call out and plan dependencies, and provide support to leadership for managing deliverables.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements. Capable of managing multiple projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
- Partner with development and QA teams to validate technical designs and ensure test coverage aligns with requirements.
- Experience in driving user acceptance tests with users.
- Proven leadership, mentorship, and stakeholder management experience.
- Agent of change and continuous improvement in business processes and solutions.
- Independently investigate and resolve client support issues.
Nice to have
- Previous work experience with trading desks, portfolio managers, and operations teams would be a strong asset.
- Good knowledge of a variety of asset classes and products : FX, Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives etc.
