A leading consulting firm in Toronto is seeking a Senior Business Analyst with payments experience to support an API upgrade project for a major banking client. The role involves leading requirement analysis, collaborating with stakeholders, and optimizing payment processes in a hybrid working environment. Contract Duration: 5 months (Possibility of extension)
Schedule Hours: 9 am-5 pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Contributes to the overall success of the Payments & Core Banking Engineering globally, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are executed/delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Real Time Rail program: APIs to be upgraded to go to real-time settlement.

Typical Day in Role:
Lead the analysis, documentation, and validation of business requirements ensuring all the decisions and requirements changes are properly captured
Collaborate with business stakeholders and technology teams across the bank as well as external partners, to deliver the end-to-end solution
Translate complex business needs into clear and concise functional requirements and user stories
Facilitate workshops and working sessions with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements
Contribute to design and optimization of payment processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Support the scrum master and project manager in planning, scoping, and impact analysis for initiatives
Perform gap analysis, root cause assessments, and release readiness reviews for payment system enhancements or upgrades
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for payments-related projects and operational improvements
Monitor post-implementation performance and incident resolution
Must be able to work within tight deadlines and schedules which may result in extended working hours during peak time to meet project deliverables
Mentor and coach less experienced team members
Support various portfolio initiatives where possible
Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge
Champion a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment
Experience and willingness to execute various test cycles
Ability to come to the office 3 times a week
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
•8-9 years of experience in business process mapping, requirements gathering & documenting and system analysis
•3-4 years of experience with QA testing
•Knowledge of conducting gap analysis on different payment standards
•Proficiency in using Jira / Confluence/ MS Office
Nice-To-Have Skills:
•Payments Domain Knowledge is an asset
•Experience working in Agile project methodology
•Experience in the Banking/Financial industry is a nice-to-have
Education:
•Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related area.
Best VS. Average Candidate:
An ideal candidate will have a mix of experience in BA and QA.
