Job description

To provide information, analysis, and insight to the Canadian business through effective business partnerships. It also requires management of financial and market data to ensure data integrity and allow the business to react and respond using data-based analysis.

  • Interaction across several different functional areas providing a varied learning experience and a wide variety of rewarding challenges
  • Fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt well to change within Suntory Global Spirits and the alcoholic beverage industry
  • Role has the support of the Business Analysis team but allows for the individual to deliver results through their own achievements

Role Responsibilities

Management of Month End Close

  • Oversee the month-end management reporting process, including communication of required deliverables and timelines to the Canadian business; provide guidance on the Purchase Order process, and manage the Brand Investment process to ensure accurate reporting of A&P expenses
  • Prepare and upload journal entries to accurately report monthly Brand Investment spending, adhering to internal control requirements
  • Maintain and manage the monthly reconciliation of applicable GL accounts

Business Partnering to Sales / Marketing

  • Provide business partnering to Sales and Marketing, supporting key decision-making with analysis and insights
  • Deliver financial education, training, tools, and templates to improve the teams’ business and financial acumen
  • Identify opportunities to proactively add value and influence business decisions
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages for Sales and Marketing and support market insights analysis
  • Analyze monthly Provincial P&L performance vs. Plan and LY, highlighting key drivers by market and brand
  • Support strategic projects, including innovation assessment, pricing, promotions, and market opportunities

Long Description

National Pricing Administration & Coordination

  • Support pricing strategies through analytics; conduct post-mortem analyses of price changes; assist in driving revenue growth

Systems and Industry Relationship Management

  • Manage relationships with third-party depletion reporting providers, ensuring data accuracy and exploring development opportunities
  • Act as the primary contact with the Association of Canadian Distillers, managing data access, membership fees, and ad hoc requests

Management of the Associate Analyst (Intern)

  • Handle recruitment, onboarding, training, and daily management of the intern
  • Coordinate with the University of Toronto for the Co-op program and related activities

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business or Finance
  • At least 2 years of financial analysis experience, focusing on accounting and reporting
  • Working towards or holds a professional accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA, CPA)
  • Willingness to travel within Canada up to 10%
  • Strong communication skills, capable of articulating complex financial data to non-financial colleagues
  • Relationship management skills to build trust with stakeholders
  • Results-oriented with a sense of urgency and deadline focus
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to change and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with SAP systems
