Job description

What is the opportunity? The role operates within the Portfolio & Change Management (PCM) group and will function primarily as a Senior Business Analyst (BA) on various initiatives across the Settlements and Clearing Services and Middle Office area within the Business & Client Services (BCS) department. Various project drivers include : Business or Process improvements, technology enhancement or system implementations, operational risk reduction, quality improvement, regulatory soundness, cost reduction, etc.

You will work directly with relevant participants to define project parameters, success criteria, solutions, and timelines while deploying best practices in process analysis, requirements documentation, project planning, testing, and stakeholder communication. What will you do?

• Lead and participate in projects of various sizes and scopes being SCS’s primary project contact, while providing business analysis expertise to enable successful execution
• Research, formulate, propose and implement strategic solutions with a focus on identifying process improvement / reengineering opportunities through streamlining, simplification, elimination of redundancies / overlaps, improved capacity utilization, automation, outsourcing, standardization, etc.
• Ensure the effective execution of analysis by team to deliver productivity / improvements positively impacting the bottom line and client satisfaction. Get involved where required.
• Provide direct support and guidance to Junior Business Analysts and provide assistance to management as required.
• Liaise with Operations, Technology, Business and other key teams to define and review requirements
• Document UAT (User Acceptance Testing) strategies, including creation of test cases where required
• Work efficiently with a view to high-quality work product and quick-to-market solutions.
• Support system testing and creation of user documentation.
• Build strong, long-term relationships throughout the RBC organization.
• Constantly seek to improve own capacity, skills and expertise.
• Provide concise and effective updates to the Associate Director and Director, Portfolio Change Management, as well as to the Project Manager where applicable

What you need to succeed?

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science or Math desirable
• Good working knowledge of Capital Markets operational functions and processes, particularly in the area of Settlements and Clearing.
• Detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Capital Markets trading and the transaction lifecycle
• Strong knowledge of supporting systems used within Operations
• Detailed understanding of Capital Markets organizational structure (front office sales and trading, middle office, product control, BCS, regulatory / compliance, etc.)
• Familiarity with regional differences in operational processing within RBC Capital Markets.
• Proficiency in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a team
• Ability to prioritize, plan and execute work to meet tight deadlines
• Strong analytical skills - Ability to identify issues and suggest solutions
• Detail oriented
• Capable of building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across the enterprise
