What can you expect from this position?
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Architecture and Technology Strategy, the Senior Business Analyst is responsible for successfully gathering, evaluating, documenting, validating, and managing customer requirements. The Senior Business Analyst works directly with our clients to understand their business needs and to translate them to actionable requirements. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for gaining the trust and confidence of our internal and external clients while also working closely with the project delivery teams. (Architects, Project Managers, Vendors, Consultants, and Quality Analysts) to ensure deliverables are aligned to the overall business need.
As Senior Business Analyst, ITM, you will:
- Application of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge methodology, processes and tools in conjunction with ITM Project Management standards and procedures
- Elicit and document business requirements via the appropriate methods for each engagement, including but not limited to the following: interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits/observation, business process analysis, use case scenarios
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external clients/customers to analyze, document and validate their information needs and functional requirements and deliver the following artifacts as needed: Business Requirements Document, Process Maps, Functional Requirements Document, Requirements Traceability Matrix, Use Cases, UI Wireframes, Functional Specification Document, Business Cases
- Serve as the requirements conduit between the stakeholder community (internal and external clients/customers) and the delivery/technical team
- Manage requirements throughout the project’s lifecycle to ensure adherence to established scope
- Utilize your experience in using enterprise-wide requirements definition and management systems and methodologies to the benefit of the company
- Successfully engage in multiple, simultaneous initiatives (which may be at different project lifecycle stages)
- Drive and challenge business units’ assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
- Possess and exhibit strong analytical and requirements management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret client/customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements
- Responsible for being a customer centric Leader with respect to the Mission, Vision, Values and Beliefs
This unionized position is classified at the Band 8 level, and has an hourly wage range of $50.01, based on a 37.5 hour work week. The successful candidate must be available to commence the duties of the position once a selection decision has been made. A test will be administered as a part of the competitive process. An eligibility list may be created.
This is the role for you, if you have:
- Undergraduate degree in business, computer science or a 3 year college diploma (or related field) preferred
- Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification and membership in the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) is preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years of continuous business analysis work experience in: Enterprise Analysis, Requirement Management and Planning, Requirement Elicitation & Communication, Requirement Analysis and Documentation and Solution Assessment and Validation
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License
- Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) framework and methodology
- Superior analytical skills that enable the incumbent to analyze the overall business need as well as minute details; recognize the strategic implication of issues; and provide sound recommendations. Analytical thinking skills including, but not limited to the following: Creative Thinking, Decision Making, Learning, Problem Solving, and Systems Thinking
- Demonstrate ability to efficiently and effectively produce high quality business analysis documentation at the appropriate level of detail, for internal and external departmental communication. Experience developing templates and macro documents
- Requires an understanding of fundamental business principles and best practices, in order to ensure that they are incorporated into and supported by solutions
- Superior ability with multidirectional and cross functional communication (written and verbal) with all internal and external stakeholder. Relationship management and presentation skills in order to acquire relevant information, influence responsible decisions based on relevant business issues, and portray complex ideas in a manner that is easily understood by various audiences
- Demonstrated leadership and influencing abilities including strong interaction, facilitation and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint) and business process modeling software
- High level of commitment to work with a strong attention to detail, and personal organization. Candidate must behave in an ethical and trustworthy manner
- Familiarity with airport and airline business processes is an asset
