Job description

The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for supporting all aspects of the company’s core applications, including the triaging and management of reported system issues, collaboration with the business units and vendors to manage and prioritize backlog items as well as gather and document user stories for system enhancements. The SBA will facilitate communication between the business and IT, soliciting input and expertise from business subject matter experts and technology teams. The SBA will support testing phases as well as assist with project implementation.

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible to ensure the business is kept informed on the status of the issue, trained as needed on the solution and work with the business to establish interim solutions until the reported issue is fully resolved. The SBA will work with stakeholder groups across Product Management, Operations, Fraud, AML, and multiple Technology teams and suppliers. EQB is using the latest suite of Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, and add-ons) for capturing epics, user stories, flows, technical design documents, testing, and sprint-based execution.

Main Activities :

  • Facilitate workshops to document customer / user needs, process / system flows, and end to end requirements as detailed user stories
  • Prepare requirements documentation which could include story maps, user stories and / or use cases, data mapping matrix and process flows
  • Follow prescribed change control procedures, making sure all changes are property documented, approved and communicated from initiation to design to testing to implementation
  • Work with our internal partners as well as 3rd party vendors to bring all issues to a resolution which include review sessions, co-ordinating the deployments to various environments, business user testing support and act as the business liaison for the vendor
  • Work with Quality Assurance team by providing input into the test strategy, test scenarios, test data requirements and supporting user validation
  • Prepare training documentation as well as facilitate training sessions to business users
  • Analyze and validate all reported issues as well as enhancement requests submitted by the EQB business users Communicate changes to the requirements effectively and on a timely basis to delivery leads, project managers and other necessary stakeholders

Knowledge / Skill Requirements :

  • 5+ years of experience in the field of Information Technology
  • Post-Secondary education, preferably in the areas of Information Technology or Commerce / Business Administration
  • Good knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle concepts and best practises for the waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Proficient user of all MS desktop tools
  • Experience and familiarity with term deposits and lending businesses
  • Experience preparing story maps and user stories and preparing data mapping documentation

Additional Nice to Have Skills :

  • Knowledge of JIRA + Confluence
  • Experience working with mobile / web apps, APIs and SQL environments

Accountability

  • The incumbent works under the direction of the Director, Payment Technology. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible to ensure the proposed resolution for any reported issues meets the needs of the business users, maintain or improve efficiencies. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible to prepare clear project documentation ensuring requirements and solutions are understood avoiding rework and cost overruns. The incumbent will need to frequently provide status updates and raise impediments with both the Program team and their Manager. The SBA will ensure they follow all defined processes and procedures and where there are exceptions, to escalate to management as required. The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to provide service, develop consensus and successfully manage relationships to ensure projects are successfully defined and delivered. The SBA will build, sustain and leverage relationships across business functions and business partners to ensure a cooperative and productive environment.
