CIMA+ is seeking a Building Mechanical Technologist to join our multidisciplinary Buildings team in Ontario. The role supports design and delivery of mechanical systems for diverse projects, with emphasis on federal, municipal, and public-sector clients across Ontario.

The position can be based in Bowmanville, Mississauga, or Kitchener with hybrid work two days a week in the office. You will collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals on projects from early design through

Qualifications

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college.
• 5+ years of experience in building mechanical design, preferably in a consulting engineering environment.
• Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; knowledge of MicroStation is a great asset.
• Familiarity with public-sector and federal government projects is strongly preferred.
• Certified Engineering Technologist or Technician (C.E.T. or C.Tech).
• PSPC Reliability Clearance is required; Secret Level II clearance is an asset.
• Valid driver’s licence and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and BIM models for HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and related building systems.
• Develop design documentation using Revit and AutoCAD in line with company standards and client requirements.
• Assist engineers with system layouts, equipment selection, calculations, and specifications.
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil disciplines in a multi-discipline environment.
• Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activities.
• Participate in site visits, inspections, and commissioning support as required.
• Assist with documentation for security-sensitive and controlled-access facilities.
• Support project schedules, quality control processes, and internal design reviews.
