Job summary

City of Windsor is seeking an Inspector II in the Inspections department to perform site inspections for all buildings regulated under the Ontario Building Code, ensure compliance with approved plans and by-laws, and issue orders when required.

The role requires heavy experience in building construction, MMAH qualifications, a valid G driver's license, and willingness to travel to off-site locations; the position is temporary full-time with a pay rate of $41.85–$49.22 hourly.

Qualifications

  • Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma required.
  • 3+ years post-secondary education in architectural technology or related field.
  • MMAH provincial qualifications or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Driver's License (Class G) and access to a vehicle.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Ontario Building Code and related standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site inspections for all buildings under the Ontario Building Code and Building Code Act.
  • Inspect construction/demolition for code compliance and issue orders when needed.
  • Review plans to ensure overall compliance with the Building Code.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and maintain records in the system.
  • Provide guidance to contractors, architects, engineers and the public.
