Job summary

The City of Thunder Bay is seeking a reliable cashier to support Fort William Gardens box office operations. You will handle over-the-counter and phone ticket sales, process payments, and assist patrons with the online system.

Under supervision of the Customer Service & Marketing Coordinator and Box Office Coordinator, you will contribute to setting up events, scheduling staff, and ensuring accurate cash reconciliation. Flexible hours include evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a box office environment (or similar).
  • Minimum two years related cash handling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Box Office Coordinator with setting up events in the ticketing software and staff scheduling.
  • Provides guidance and support to other ticketing agents as required.
  • Sells tickets over-the-counter and by telephone for Fort William Gardens and other venues using a computerized ticketing system.
  • Processes payments by cash, debit card and credit cards.
  • Answers telephone, email and counter inquiries related to events and facility information; assists patrons with online ticketing system issues.
  • Completes cash reconciliation statements as per the computerized sales summary and cash balance sheet.
  • Maintains ticket printers and transelect machines as necessary.
  • Listens to concerns from the public and directs to the appropriate supervisor or personnel.
  • Assists in keeping the office clean and orderly.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Customer Service & Marketing Coordinator and the technical direction and guidance of the Box Office Coordinator, performs cashier duties for the Fort William Gardens operations.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Box Office Coordinator with setting up various events in the ticketing software as well as staff scheduling.
  • Provides guidance and support to other ticketing agents as required.
  • Sells tickets over-the-counter and by telephone for events held at the Fort William Gardens and other venues using a computerized ticketing system.
  • Processes payments by cash, debit card and credit cards.
  • Answers telephone, email and counter inquires related to all events and general facility information. Assists patrons who may be experiencing difficulties purchasing tickets using the on-line ticketing system.
  • Completes cash reconciliation statements as per computerized sales summary and/or cash balance sheet for hard copy ticket sales.
  • Maintains ticket printers and transelect machines, as necessary.
  • Listens to concerns/complaints from public and ensures information is directed to the appropriate supervisor or other personnel.
  • Assists in keeping the office in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Minimum one year of experience working in a box office environment (or similar)
  • Minimum two years related cash handling experience

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must possess good community and public relations skills and have the ability to communicate and deal with the general public in a tactful and courteous manner
  • Must demonstrate initiative and show a positive attitude

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must undergo a successful Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)
  • Will be required to work irregular hours including weekdays, evenings, and weekends
