We are a leading contracting business delivering high-quality installations, service and infrastructure projects across the commercial and industrial sectors. With strong growth and a pipeline of major projects, we’re looking for a talented Senior Bookkeeper / Accountant to support our finance function and contribute to our ongoing success.
About the Role
Reporting to the CFO, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records, working closely with both finance and project teams. This role suits someone who is analytical, hands-on, has great attention to detail and ready to take ownership of financial processes whilst delivering insights to improve performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Manage month-end and year-end financial close processes including journals, accruals and prepayments
Ensure accurate, clear general ledger entries and maintain audit-ready records
Perform timely Balance Sheet reconciliations (such as; Bank and loan accounts, Creditors and Debtors, Stock and Work in Progress (WIP), Wages and payroll tax control accounts (PAYG, Superannuation)
Prepare and lodge all statutory returns (such as BAS, Superannuation, Payroll Tax)
Prepare rolling 12 week cash flow forecasts
Work closely with the cost controller and project managers to ensure accurate cost coding and allocations
Provide insights into gross profit margins and highlight cost-saving opportunities across the business
Support audit preparation and ensure compliance with tax and reporting requirements
Oversee AP/AR reconciliations and support timely invoicing, payment and collections
Back up to payroll (weekly)
What We’re Looking For
Relevant Batchelor degree or Master of Professional Accounting
5+ years’ experience in financial accounting
Strong understanding of general ledger and balance sheet integrity
Advanced Excel and Xero Financials and Payroll
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Proactive, detail-focused and comfortable working across finance and operations
Work rights with no restrictions
Highly desirable
CPA, CIMA,CA qualified (or very close to completion)
Construction, manufacturing or warehousing industry exposure
