Camp Forming Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join our dynamic team. As a Senior Bookkeeper, you will play a pivotal role in managing the financial operations of our group of companies, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and possess exceptional organizational skills to support our growing business.

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for our group of companies, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Take full ownership of Accounts Payable and Union Payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, employee compensation, statutory remittances, and compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring timely recording and reconciliation of expenses, invoices, and payments.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders, including vendors, subcontractors, and clients, to address financial inquiries, resolve discrepancies, and facilitate payment processing.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and tax laws specific to the construction industry in Ontario.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in Sage Accounting software is required.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Construction software is considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify errors, discrepancies, and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • CPA designation or progress towards CPA certification is considered an asset.
