Overview

Senior Bookkeeper. Youth With A Mission (YWAM) Society is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper. If you have an IT background, a strong understanding of and proven experience with full cycle accounting, budgeting, and financial reports, and a shared passion for our mission, we would like you to apply. YWAM has a mission to participate with God's mission on earth so people of all ages, genders and backgrounds have a life-changing encounter with the living God. YWAM is committed to training young people and mobilizing them to go and experience God through people from various nations and cultures. It is an organization made up of Vancouver staff members and missionaries worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the transition from Quickbooks Desktop to Quickbooks Online (QBO), along with the adoption of new processes.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure the sync between QBO and SilentPartner is effective; perform troubleshooting steps when needed.
  • Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with non-profit accounting standards in QBO and SilentPartner.
  • Record in QBO and reconcile all revenues, donations, grants, and expenses in Quickbooks Online.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and deposits.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and financial reports for the board/treasurer.
  • Track restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and program-specific budgets.
  • Assist with payroll processing and employee reimbursements.
  • Prepare year-end documentation for auditors and collaborate with CPA on audit requests.
  • Support budget preparation and ongoing budget-to-actual reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with CRA reporting requirements (e.g., charitable filings, tax receipts).
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of financial and operational SOPs.
  • Provide financial reports for project reporting, Board, and internal meetings.
  • Maintain the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents to ensure relevance.
Qualifications
  • High level of competence in cloud-based apps: Microsoft & Google online; QBO, online banking, CRA online; intermediate Excel, etc.
  • Experience in bookkeeping and payroll preferably with non-profits: 5 years of full cycle bookkeeping + Canadian payroll + CRA experience, or equivalent.
  • Experience in using cloud-based accounting software is a must (QBO preferred).
  • 2+ years of non-profit/charity full cycle bookkeeping experience, or more.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with staff, volunteers, and board members.
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented, with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
  • Reports to: Project Funding Administrator.
Salary and Benefits

Salary: Full time, $65,000-80,000 per year, depending on experience.

  • Benefits: Extended health care with no deductible after the probationary period; two weeks of holidays; technical and accounting upgrade training courses available on request; monthly team-building lunches; annual 3-day seminars.
Location and Work Arrangement

Location: Vancouver, BC (preferred). Place of work: Primarily work from home after probation with an expected weekly office day in the central Vancouver office.
