Supervisor Title: Director of Operations

Commitment: Full-time, Remote

Compensation: $65,000-$80,000

Company Summary:

Liberty Horizons is a financial consulting/venture capital practice out of Toronto, Canada specializing in fractional CFO services, bookkeeping, AR/AP, payroll and venture consulting for small businesses. We love growing young founder-lead businesses. The way we do this is by building and managing accounting and finance operations for startups and small businesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to deliver on the daily financial, admin, accounting and HR responsibilities for clients and portfolio companies of the firm
  • Record and process detailed transactions and reconciling accounts using QuickBooks or other online accounting software
  • Process payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable for clients of the practice
  • Process, create and track invoices, journal entries, and expense reimbursements for clients
  • Analyze financial processes and procedures and recommend changes for improvement
  • Oversee client accounts and deliverables using Notion project management software
  • Process and prepare financial reports for clients using Google and Excel spreadsheets
  • Communicate with accountants, real estate agents, and other professionals to deliver on special projects
  • Manage the administration and organization of Cloud storage, electronic receipt, and invoice filing systems
  • Maintain financial records for compliance
  • Assist to prepare and file company tax returns including but not limited to payroll taxes, HST taxes
  • Prepare year-end documents and posting year-end journal entries
  • Administration tasks as necessary
  • Assist to issue ROEs and T-Slips

Skills:

  • 2+ years of experience as a bookkeeper, preferably in an accounting practice or similar setting
  • College Diploma or Degree in Accounting or equivalent educational experience
  • Understanding of general accounting principles, systems, and general office procedures
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills in the form of financial modeling and managerial accounting
  • Strong knowledge of Google Sheets, QuickBooks Online, and Knit Payroll
  • Demonstrate high level of attention to detail
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, and ability to work well in a team
  • Ability to adapt, research, ask great questions and learn quickly
  • Must be extremely digitally savvy, we are a fully remote and virtual office/company
  • Loves to read books
  • Understanding of startup culture is an asset
  • Tax and tax preparation experience is an asset
