About us:
The University’s Institutional Research and Data Governance (IRDG) office provides leadership and administrative support for the institution’s data strategy. The IRDG office’s mandate is to:
• Provide reporting and analytics services within our distributed institutional research model: lead institution-wide analysis projects, provide training opportunities for divisional analysts, implement new analytics tools and platforms, and improve access to curated institutional datasets.
• Support external reporting of institutional data (SMA metrics, key performance indicators for governance, international rankings, data exchanges with peer institutions).
• Implement an institution-wide data governance program to support the University in strategically harnessing data to achieve institutional goals.
• Provide leadership and administrative support for the institution’s data strategy.
Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Data Engineering & Business Intelligence, the incumbent provides business intelligence solutions to support institutional initiatives at the University of Toronto. The incumbent will engage clients to understand business needs and translate requirements into institutional datasets, reporting and analytics products that generate insights for the University and its Divisions. These applications will require a variety of technical skills including SQL, as well as visualization technologies such as Tableau and PowerBI. The incumbent will work closely with various teams within IRDG (Data Engineering, Data Governance) and Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration team within the CIO portfolio to operationalize data and analytics products. Duties include: working with clients in Central and Academic Divisions such as Human Resources, Research Services, Enrolment Services, Financial Services and academic divisions, to determine business and information requirements; the ideal candidate will have an understanding of data models, experience with ETL technology and experience developing solutions in Azure environments. Individual must have experience working in agile development style, understands process and must be collaborative.
