Job summary

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company in Canada, seeks a Senior Backend Developer to own backend architecture for two AI-native products. You will design scalable APIs with Python/FastAPI, build LLM-powered features, and manage multi-tenant PostgreSQL schemas.

You will join a small senior team in a hybrid Toronto setup, starting with a 3-month contract with potential for full-time. 7+ years of backend experience and strong cloud/CI/CD practices are required.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building production Python services, preferably FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with LLM-powered features or agent systems.
• Strong PostgreSQL and relational database design and tuning.
• Experience with multi-tenant SaaS, RBAC and authorization concepts.
• Proven Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and IaC in production.
• Familiarity with AI tooling and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own backend architecture and development across two AI-native products.
• Design and develop scalable APIs and backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Build and enhance LLM-powered features and agent-based tooling.
• Design PostgreSQL schemas, migrations, and data access layers.
• Maintain secure, scalable multi-tenant services and real-time data processing.
• Support deployment and operations including CI/CD and cloud infra.
• Maintain engineering practices around testing, docs, security and quality.
