Zonda is redefining the future of housing. We are hiring a Senior Backend Engineer with strong .NET and AI/ML expertise to design scalable backend systems and AI-powered features for North America's large marketplaces.

This is a dual-focus role spanning core backend engineering and AI/ML, with hybrid work hours aligned to Eastern Time. The Senior Backend Engineer will design and build REST and gRPC services, manage data layers across SQL Server, MongoDB, and Elasticsearch, and contribute to

Qualifications

• 7+ years building production backend systems with .NET Framework and .NET Core/.NET 6+.
• Strong REST API design and distributed systems experience.
• Production gRPC services with Protocol Buffers and inter-service patterns.
• Deep SQL Server experience including indexing and tuning.
• MongoDB and Elasticsearch in production environments.
• Cloud experience on AWS and Azure with observability.
• CI/CD, Docker, automated testing, and DevOps fundamentals.
• Experience with high-traffic consumer web platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, REST APIs, and gRPC microservices in C#/.NET.
• Build and optimize data layers across SQL Server, MongoDB, Elasticsearch.
• Implement DDD, CQRS, MediatR and Minimal API patterns in services.
• Improve performance via caching, async processing, and event-driven messaging.
• Build cloud integrations across AWS and Azure; contribute to CI/CD pipelines.
• Ship AI/ML-powered backend features such as ranking, personalization, and recommendations.
• Develop MCP (Model Context Protocol) tooling and integrate AI agents.
