Job summary

eBay is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join the Focused Categories team in Toronto. You will tackle high-impact technical challenges with cutting-edge technologies, including Generative AI, and act as an engineering glue across teams while mentoring others.

You will oversee subsystems end-to-end, influence architecture, and drive roadmap execution in a collaborative, inclusive environment. Strong ownership and willingness to learn are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in EE, CS or related field.
• 6+ years of experience with Java, Kotlin (or willing to learn), GraphQL, Spring/Springboot, REST APIs and messaging systems.
• Building data-driven applications (RDBMS, NoSQL, ElasticSearch).
• Delivers results in fast-paced environments with agile, TDD, CI/CD.
• Ability to contribute on the FE side in addition to BE is a plus.
• Familiarity with shift left approach is a plus.

We're looking for a strong Senior Backend Engineer to help tackle complex, high-impact technical challenges using cutting-edge technologies, including Generative AI. Qualifications

Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:

C$142,400 - C$190,100

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
