Job summary

GHGSat is seeking a senior engineer to build reliable, useful software that matters. You will work on backend and API stacks, ensure high availability of GHGSat services, and collaborate across teams to shape new features.

Ideal candidates have a strong Python background, cloud experience (AWS), and hands-on containerization with Docker and Kubernetes, plus a test-driven mindset and CI/CD discipline.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven track record shipping scalable web applications that drive user value.
• Strong experience with Python.
• Experience designing and implementing services in the cloud (AWS).
• Experience deploying containerized applications with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
• Experience with PostgreSQL databases and ETL systems.
• Test-driven development mindset with solid CI/CD and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full application lifecycle, focusing on developing features and delivering value to users.
• Develop, test, integrate, and deploy backend and API stacks.
• Maintain and ensure high availability of GHGSat web services, both externally and internally.
• Collaborate with developers, designers, QA, and Product Owners to identify and shape new features.

GHGSat offers greenhouse gas detection, measurement, and monitoring services to industrial and government customers around the world. We use our own satellites and aircraft sensors, combined with third-party data, to help industrial emitters better understand, control, and reduce their emissions.

GHGSat's capability is unique: we provide high-resolution, local measurements of atmospheric methane and carbon dioxide concentration from space. This further enables us to detect greenhouse gas emitters and to visualize and quantify their emissions.

Desired qualifications

• Python web frameworks such as Django or FastAPI.
• Python ETL tooling such as pandas, SQLAlchemy, or dbt.
• Deployment tooling such as Argo within a Kubernetes environment.
• Comfort working in a Linux environment.
• Entrepreneurial energy and determination.
• Interest in remote sensing systems and space.
