Job summary

MacLean Engineering in Barrie/Cambridge seeks Intermediate to Senior Autonomy Engineers to design and implement autonomous boom control for underground mining equipment. You’ll work on sensing, modeling, and closed-loop control, including 3D mapping, kinematics, and state feedback, interfacing with the navigation stack.

You’ll collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers, apply ROS/ROS 2, and contribute to a scalable automation platform in a hands-on R&D environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in robotics, automation, or controls.
• Degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Computer, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience with ROS/ROS 2, Linux/embedded, and C++/Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate autonomy software for boom automation in mining equipment.
• Work across sensing, modeling, and control to enable autonomous operation.
• Collaborate with mechanical and systems engineers to bridge software and hardware.
