Job summary

ATS Industrial Automation in Vaughan, Canada, is seeking a senior controls engineer to design and develop automation solutions, lead projects, and mentor junior staff. You will integrate PLC/PC based software (Rockwell/Siemens), support installation at customer sites, and manage budgets, schedules and milestones.

You will work with PLCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, and interfaces to SCADA (Ignition, ATS SAMS, ATS Test Executive).

Qualifications

• 5+ years programming PLCs and HMI using Rockwell/Siemens platforms.
• 3+ years in SCADA/MES environments with strong problem solving.
• Proficient in Visual Basic, C#, Python; able to read/modify PLC code.
• Experience with robotics, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC/PC-based software tailored to customer and project needs.
• Program in ladder logic on Rockwell/Siemens platforms; perform tests and debugging.
• Select and integrate hardware/software components including robots and sensors.
• Debug, commission, and support installations at customer sites; travel up to 20%.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure project milestones, budgets and quality KPIs.
