Job summary

Baker Tilly Canada is seeking a Senior Accountant in Peterborough, ON, to join a collaborative team delivering compilation, review and audit engagements, and tax returns. You will develop technical audit, accounting and tax skills while guiding engagements and stakeholders.

The role emphasizes client service, teamwork, and professional growth with a focus on meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work across corporate, personal, and trust matters.

Qualifications

• University degree in commerce or accounting.
• CPA designation or CPA in waiting.
• 3+ years experience at public accounting firm with a minimum of two years of audit and assurance experience.
• Working knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep/iFirm, Keystone, and Quickbooks preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of compilation, review and audit engagements.
• Preparation of corporate, personal and trust income tax returns.
• Preparation of tax slips (T3, T4, T5, etc.).
• Performing and leading audits.
• Identifying and resolving engagement issues.
• Supporting year-end planning.
• Developing and maintaining positive and productive working relationships.
• Direct field work and informing manager(s) of the engagement status.
• Developing strong technical audit, accounting and tax skills.

Your role:

• Preparation of compilation, review and audit engagements

What you bring to the table:

• University degree in commerce or accounting
• Attained a Canadian professional accounting designation (CPA, CA) or CPA in waiting
• 3+ years experience at public accounting firm with a minimum of two years of audit and assurance experience
• Working knowledge of Caseware, Taxprep/iFirm, Keystone, and Quickbooks preferred
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Interest in managing and developing others
• Ability to prioritize and manage deliverables, adhering to time and budget constraints
• Ability to consistently meet deadlines, which can be conflicting with one another
• Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to work and learn
• An inclination for attention to detail and accuracy
• A desire to be an integral part of a fun team environment
