Job summary

Maple Leaf Foods in Port Perry, Ontario, is seeking entry-level General Labour/Production Workers for its Prepared Meats Plant. Duties include packaging, sorting, weighing, and quality checks. Shifts are rotating days and afternoons, with overtime opportunities.

Start rate of $18.80/hour with a possibility to earn up to $21.93/hour and a shift premium on afternoons. Ideal candidates are reliable, team-oriented, eager to learn, and able to lift up to 23 kg.

Responsibilities

• Package finished products into retail boxes.
• Sort, pack, crate, and package materials and products.
• Check and weigh materials and products.
• Transport raw materials and finished products manually or with powered equipment.
• Perform visual quality checks against specs, including foreign materials and weight checks.
• Maintain cleanliness of areas of responsibility.
• Cross-training opportunities in other departments/job functions.
• Adhere to Product, Food Safety QA, and Health and Safety SOPs.
• Other tasks as assigned.

The Role:

Maple Leaf Foods at 15350 Old Simcoe Rd., Port Perry, ON is accepting applications for entry-level Production/General Labour positions within our Prepared Meats Plant which specializes in baked good products such as quiche, meat pies, shepherd’s pies, dips, and breakfast bites.

Reason for vacancy: Existing Headcount.

Duties may include:

• Largest percentage of time spent packaging finished products into retail boxes.
• Sort, pack, crate, and package materials and products.
• Check and weigh materials and products.
• Transport raw materials and finished products manually or using powered equipment.
• Visual quality checks of product against customer and internal specifications (including foreign materials and weight checks).
• Maintain cleanliness of areas of responsibility
• Cross-training opportunities in other departments/job functions
• Adhere to Product, Food Safety Quality Assurance, and Health and Safety Standard Operating Procedures.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Hours of Work

• Monday to Friday
• Rotating shifts (days/afternoons)
• Approximate shift times are:
  • 7:30am -4:00pm
  • 4:00pm – 12:30am
• Occasional overtime opportunities
