Qualifications

Job Details

Position Title: Senior Audio-Visual & Event Production Engineer

Status: Appendix-D (18-Months Contract)

Hours: 40 hours per week

Faculty/Department: Information Technology Services

Campus/Location: North Campus

Salary: FT Support Payband: K

Salary Range: $46.08 - $53.43

Starting Salary: $46.08

Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.

About The Senior Audio-Visual & Event Production Engineer

Under the general direction of the Associate Director, IT Client Experience and Engagement, the Senior Audio-Visual & Event Production Engineer supervises and supports the delivery of integrated and non-integrated Audio-Visual solutions in Enterprise-class infrastructure and Live Production environments.

The incumbent will align technology solutions and technical resources with client requirements that aim to increase engagement and experience while supporting the business objectives and learning outcomes of the Humber community. The incumbent will also help to maintain existing systems & infrastructure by providing proactive & urgent operational support and guidance to technical resources.

Key responsibilities include

  • Architecting, engineering , implementing , deploying and supporting complex portable and i ntegrated hardware / sof tware AV Systems & Technology with respect to On-premise and V irtual e vent /meeting p roduction, v ideo c onferencing & w eb casting, v ideo w alls, d igital s ignage, c ontent m anagement s ystems and w ayfinding s olutions.
  • Acting as and providing Subject Matter Expertise to Coordinators, Technicians, Clients, Departments, Project Managers, Contractors, Suppliers and Partners .
  • Research, d evelopment, p rocurement and d eployment of innovative technical solutions that meet or exceed to client expectations .
  • Creating, modifying , verifying and updating p lan & d esign d rawings, BOMs, SOWs, RFPs, presentations and reports .
  • Active and p roactive attention to ensure the safety, security , reliability, and availability of A udio-Visual technologies in the operating environment .
  • Planning, c oordinating, and overseeing hardware and software installations, upgrades, maintenanc e, repairs, and support services.
  • Monitoring, responding to, and resolving incidents, service requests and escalations .
  • Training, s upporting, guiding, and advising clients, s uppliers, staff and student technic al teams .
  • Ability to decipher and understand needs, requirements, and specifications to determine the optimal course of action and provide thoughtful and expeditious solutions to complex technical issues .
  • Installation , p rogramming, c onfiguration, s etup and i ntegration of technical devices and components .
  • Documenting and sharing knowledge, experience and best practices while working collaboratively alongside team members .
  • Providing quality assurance on all tasks, project phases and deliverables .

Education

F our ( 4 ) year post-secondary degree in Audio-Visual Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering , Systems & Network Administration ( or equivalent )

Experience/Skills

  • M inimum of five ( 5 ) years of wor k experience in Audio-Visual systems design , Broadcast systems & technologies, Live Event Staging & Lighting, Live & S tudio Audio engineering, and Enterprise class Digital Signage solutions .
  • Developed AV-IT acumen, troubleshooting and multitasking skills as well as superior attention to detail, quality control, problem solving and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication, organisation skills and a friendly, team-centric collaborative mindset is required. The candidate will also demonstrate business professionalism, customer service excellence and the ability to multitask operational work with priority projects running in parallel.
  • Certifications in CTS, Crestron/Extron, BiAmp/QSC, NDI, DANTE, also installation and service from popular manufacturers is preferred. AVIXA, CompTIA Network+, IT networking, Project Management, ITIL certifications would be an asset.
