Job summary

RSM Canada LLP is seeking a Senior Associate to join our Consumer Products Assurance team in Toronto. The role involves auditing complex financial statements, understanding client businesses, and applying our Global Audit Methodology to deliver high-quality services to local, national and international clients.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field from an accredited university.
• Active CPA license or progress toward CPA licensure in province of residence.
• 2–3 years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and auditing software tools.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills with professional judgment.
• Experience supporting audits from planning through completion and mentoring staff.
• Ability to communicate clearly with clients and firm personnel, in person or remotely.
• Effective project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to travel ~25% of the year as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely, high-quality client service meeting or exceeding expectations, including coordinating audits of complex financial statements and related disclosures.
• Develop understanding of the client's business and serve as an industry specialist for client needs.
• Understand and utilize RSM’s Global Audit Methodology.
• Train and supervise Audit Associates on engagement teams and act as in-charge on field work.
• Anticipate and address client concerns; escalate issues as they arise.
• Interact with clients to ensure efficient information flow between client and audit team.
• Identify and communicate significant accounting and auditing matters to management and partner.
• Provide feedback on financial statements and prepare client deliverables such as letters and board communications.
• Recognize industry-specific and general accounting issues and determine appropriate audit approaches.
• Identify opportunities for performance improvement within the team; support ongoing professional development.
• Willingness to travel 25% of the year, depending on client needs.
