Responsibilities
- Being a courageous safety leader, adhere to and champion business ethics, safety, and environmental standards through interactions with the business.
- The successful candidate will primarily support the Assurance Manager with delivery and oversight of the annual ICFR audit (SOX and CSOX), including planning, mobilizing resources, preparation of work papers, quality assurance reviews, reporting results to management and external auditors, and supporting the maintenance and reporting of audit KPIs.
- In addition to ICFR, the Assurance Senior will be expected to support and/or lead other compliance audits, strategic risk assurance reviews, advisory engagements, or other special projects through the engagement lifecycle (planning, delivery, and reporting) related to mining operations or supporting functions such as Commercial, Projects, Finance, IT, Legal, Sustainability, and Human Resources.
- Document, analyze, communicate, and present observations and root causes of issues related to engagement procedures with customers at various levels within the organization.
- Assist management in identifying and assessing risks and controls or process improvements to achieve organizational objectives.
- Develop recommendations to strengthen the company's internal control systems or improve efficiency, effectiveness, profitability, or other objectives.
- Follow up with management to ensure remediation actions from audit and assurance engagements are properly implemented.
- Assist A&A leadership team with ad-hoc audits and investigations, and lead strategic continuous improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Continuously develop understanding of Teck’s operations, functions, key projects, and the broader mining industry.
Qualifications: Education & Experience
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is required.
- Big 4 / Professional Audit Services Firm experience in completing audits in accordance with SOX required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, finance, or accounting.
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation is desirable but not required.
Other Qualifications
- Excellent writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Spanish (oral and written) is an asset.
- Strong curiosity and ability to understand business value drivers, risks, processes, and controls, with innovative problem-solving skills.
- Drive for service excellence and ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent active listening skills, respectful communication, and ability to deliver key messages in English and Spanish.
- Openness to change, resilience, and high emotional intelligence.
- Ability to collaborate, influence, and hold self and others accountable.
- Understanding of ethics, risk management, internal controls, and compliance, especially Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Business acumen and understanding of IT landscape and governance, risk, and controls.
- Data fluency and experience with Power BI is an asset.
- Mining or extractive industry experience is advantageous.
Environmental and Physical Demands
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and travel to remote locations.
- Travel expected from 5% to 30%, including work at high altitudes.

Salary Range: CAD $104,975 - $129,675
Salary depends on experience, skills, and internal equity.
