What You’ll Be Doing
The Senior Associate, Institutional Business Development reports to Director, Institutional Client Experience, and works in collaboration with the Institutional Business Development and Consultant Relations teams to identify, advance and develop new institutional asset management business. You’ll also manage global consultant databases and lead the relationship with database providers. You'll participate from the prospect identification stage through to the solutions proposal, prospect presentation and follow-through. You'll also work with multiple channels to develop their network, such as institutional clients, investment consultants, direct plan sponsors, and internal CIBC Bank networks.
How you’ll succeed
Business Development: Support the Regional Vice Presidents, Institutional Business Development who is responsible for developing sales strategies to advance CIBC Asset Management (AM) products/ capabilities. Support the Regional Vice Presidents, Consultant Relations who is responsible for developing, building and supporting relations with the institutional investment consultant community. Analyze and provide recommendations for growth and business development opportunities.
Relationship Management: Contribute to the growth of new revenues through organizing lists for, developing leads and opportunities. Support the Business Development and Consultant Relations teams in developing relationships and opportunities with existing channel relationships. Establish and maintain effective partnerships and teamwork to ensure a level of service delivery that is professional, seamless and timely.
Pipeline Management: Generate reports on the progress of business development opportunities and facilitate communication among partners. Provide analysis of business potential and market competition based on the reports, market trends, and competitor assessment.
Manage Global Consultant Database: Lead and own the quality and timeliness of the database content across global consultant database. Work with internal (e.g., Investment teams, Performance team, etc.) and external teams (Nasdaq OMNI). Manage firm and strategy content in the global investment management databases (e.g., eVestement, etc.). Review investment strategy profiles completed by analysts and provide insightful feedback. Leverage data across global databases to continuously enhance CIBC AM’s content input and produce competitive analysis.
Client Solutioning: Leverage CIBC AM’s intellectual capital, investment research, and Client Portfolio Management capabilities, to identify prospects, arrange meetings with key institutional investors, and enhance CIBC AM's reputation and brand in the institutional market segment. Manage events, sponsorship, conferences, and prospect communications. Work closely with the Institutional Client Experience team to help produce RFIs, RFPs and presentations that meet client and consultant needs.
Leveraging technology: Achieve a working comfort with the operations of CIBC AM’s RFP, institutional database, and presentations infrastructure (including the ability to access Qvidian, Seismic and SharePoint tools, as well as eVestment databases, for routine tasks and information pulls).
Team Collaboration: Share suggestions on how to improve work productivity. Work with the Institutional Client Experience team on ongoing projects to enhance efficiency. Represent CIBC AM in working with the various line management teams of the institutional clients and portfolio managers.

You have strong technical skills: You have extensive technical skills using applications including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Bloomberg. Experience using the global databases (e.g., eVestment) is an asset.
You're a certified professional: Your enrollment in or achievement of the CFA or CIM designations is preferred. You have demonstrated strong interests in markets and investment management.
You have a Bachelor's degree: MBA/Master's degree preferred.

You are bilingual: In addition to having strong communication skills in English, fluency in French is an asset.
