Senior Associate, Financial Consulting - Business Interruption

Role Overview:

The Business Loss Team, part of the Financial Investigations & Dispute Advisory Services (“FIDS”) group at RSM Canada, provides expert reports for business interruption insurance claims, expropriation matters, complex commercial litigation, and forensic accounting services.

As a Senior Associate, you will be a vital member of a growing team delivering loss quantification, business valuation, and forensic accounting services to clients, legal counsel, insurance companies, government entities, and external consultants.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform in-depth analysis and quantitative modeling of financial statements and other key financial data for insurance claims, mediations, arbitration, and litigation.
  2. Conduct detailed research and analysis, including reviewing financial metrics, understanding business drivers, and case law to identify relevant issues.
  3. Review, analyze, compile, and organize electronic documentation; assist with document production for litigation.
  4. Prepare expert report narratives and other deliverables such as data visualizations, charts, and exhibits.
  5. Work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects with changing priorities and strict deadlines.
  6. Contribute to proposals and support business development activities, including presentations, webinars, and industry conferences.
  7. Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
  8. Travel flexibility to client sites and offices within Canada and the USA.

Qualifications:

  1. Strong communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly.
  2. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics.
  3. Minimum of 2 years relevant experience, with experience in litigation support, business valuation, investigations, insurance claims, or forensic accounting preferred.
  4. Knowledge of business interruption insurance policies, civil procedures, and relevant legislation is a plus.
  5. CPA, CBV, CFA, CFE designations or pursuing them are preferred, with solid accounting fundamentals.
  6. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  7. Motivated problem-solver with a desire to learn and excel in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and general ledger systems like QuickBooks is advantageous.

The salary range for this role is $64,000 - $102,500, reflecting experience, skills, and location. Discretionary bonuses are available based on performance.
