Job summary

Scotiabank is seeking a Senior Associate Crypto Platform Engineer to join the Crypto Engineering pillar. You will provide operations support for cryptographic security platforms across the enterprise, collaborating with business lines and IT teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical operations in deployment of complex enterprise systems.
  • Hands-on experience in Java, Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA, Bitbucket (Git) and Confluence.
  • Crypto engineering and platforms knowledge, including key management.
  • Experience with PowerBI and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field is an asset.
  • Security accreditations are an asset.
  • Cloud security (GCP, Azure) and Kubernetes knowledge would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technology operations support for the Crypto Security Platform and ensure platforms are secure and resilient.
  • Act as Level 1 and 2 escalation point, troubleshooting crypto platform incidents.
  • Support change requests, patching, upgrades, regression testing, DBR testing.
  • Lead production and non-production implementations with checklists and systems integration for Crypto Platforms (including HSMs).
  • Coordinate implementations across environments and oversee execution.
  • Demonstrate accountability for projects and daily operations, delivering results with minimal guidance.
  • Foster a positive, risk-aware team environment within the bank.
  • Assist in portfolio management and remediation of audits and compliance issues.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvements aligned with risk culture.

The Team

Crypto Product and Engineering is responsible for leading cryptographic security and cross-functional product teams to accelerate the build of global security services, advance engineering capabilities, and work with global technology and business partners to lead foundational and transformational security products strategically across the enterprise.

The Role

As a Senior Associate Crypto Platform Engineer, you will be a core member of the Crypto Engineering pillar, responsible for providing technology operations support for the deployment of cryptographic security products across the enterprise, in collaboration with various business lines, IT support teams, and Information Security & Control functions.

Is this role right for you?In this role you will:

  • Provide technology operations support for the Crypto Security Platform, ensuring platforms remain secure and resilient.
  • Act as a Level 1 and 2 escalation point, troubleshooting and resolving incidents related to the Crypto Security Platform .
  • Support operational activities including change request creation, server patching, software currency upgrades, regression testing, and Disaster Backup & Recovery (DBR) testing.
  • Lead implementations across production and non-production environments by developing implementation checklists and executing hands-on systems integration for Crypto Platforms, including HSM devices.
  • Coordinate all implementations across production and non-production environments by creating implementation checklists and overseeing execution.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability for assigned projects, initiatives, and daily operations, consistently delivering results with minimal guidance.
  • Foster a positive work environment with highly motivated individuals focused on reducing risk within the bank.
  • Provide support for application portfolio management and assist in remediating audit and compliance issues.
  • Contribute to continuous, iterative improvements across team processes and procedures, while aligning with the bank’s risk appetite and risk culture.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • 3+ years of hands-on technical operations working experience in implementation and deployment of complex or large-scale applications/systems/platforms in an enterprise and financial setting.
  • Hands-on technical working experience in programming languages such as (by not limited to) Java, bash, and PowerShell.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle and tools including JIRA, Bitbucket (Git), and Confluence.
  • Working knowledge and experience in crypto engineering and platforms, key management practices, as well as good knowledge of other information security domains.
  • Working knowledge of business analysis technology (PowerBI, Excel).
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written/presentation), negotiating, and interpersonal skills is a strong asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or a related field would be an asset.
  • Security accreditations would be an asset.
  • Cloud security (GCP, Azure) and container (Kubernetes) knowledge would be an asset.
