Job description

We’re partnering with a key employer in the region to recruit a Senior Asset Accountant for their corporate finance team in Newcastle.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant (Capital), the Senior Asset Accountant is responsible for managing the organisation’s asset registers (accounting, tax, and regulatory), processing capital asset transactions, and contributing to project governance, budgeting, and compliance with accounting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile three asset registers (accounting, tax, regulatory)
  • Process asset additions, developer contributions, retirements, and adjustments
  • Prepare journals and reports for month-end and statutory reporting
  • Support asset revaluations and impairment processes
  • Assist with capital project administration including set-up and closeout
  • Contribute to quarterly forecasts and annual budget cycles
  • Maintain and review policies and procedures related to asset accounting
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring within the finance team

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce or similar
  • CPA or CA qualified (or working towards)
  • Experience in asset or capital project accounting
  • Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with ERP systems (desirable)
