Gilder Search Group is seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist / Job Captain to lead technical development for restaurant and hospitality projects across Canada. The role emphasizes ownership from schematic design through construction and coordinating with consultants, clients, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate brings 9+ years of Canadian experience, strong Revit and AutoCAD skills, and a track record of mentoring staff.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of architectural technology experience within Canada.
• Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology or Architecture.
• Some experience working on restaurant projects, ideally with experience in quick service industry.
• Deep understanding of Canadian Building Codes, accessibility standards, and local bylaws.
• Advanced proficiency in Revit and working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Strong technical detailing and construction knowledge.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience coordinating consultant teams and external stakeholders.
• Previous mentoring or leadership experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• OAA Intern registration or strong asset, or eligibility to pursue registration.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design intent into practical and code-compliant technical solutions.

• Resolve construction and detailing issues during project delivery.
• Oversee quality control throughout the documentation process.
• Support contract administration and site coordination during construction.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of multi-site restaurant programs and one-of-a-kind hospitality spaces.

Opportunity

This position is ideal for a seasoned architectural technologist or architectural professional (designer, intern or Architect with excellent technical skills) who enjoys taking ownership of projects and seeing them through all technical phases.

You will play a key role in transforming design ideas into detailed, buildable drawing packages while coordinating with consultants, clients, and internal teams to ensure projects move smoothly through every stage.

You’ll work on a range of projects, creating spaces that are visually compelling, technically sound, and operationally successful.
