The firm has 18 years of experience, striking a great balance of being established and yet open-ended: we have a large portfolio of successfully built projects, using a large library of office standards and templates, yet we are currently expanding further into new areas of work and are incorporating innovative developments in technology as they arise.

About the position

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Architectural Technologist who brings graphics, drafting, and BIM expertise—primarily in Revit.As an Architectural Technologist, you will be the front lines of architectural drafting and coordination for projects in SD, DD, CD and CA phases.You will act in the capacity of a BIM Manager, taking responsibility for the creation of a robust BIM model according to SHAPE’s Drawing Standards and the project’s BIM Execution Plan, and acting as a primary point of contact in the coordination of Consultant’s BIM models at key stages.

This position is full-time, in person, working from our Vancouver, South Granville office. There is an option for hybrid arrangement up to two days per week. No remote applicants.

An Architectural Technology Diploma or Architecture Degree

A minimum of five years of experience as an architectural technologist

Proficiency in Revit and an understanding of coordination with AutoCAD based consultants

The ability to contribute to work in a variety of sectors, including Residential, Mixed-Used, Recreational, and Institutional

Competency in the full suite of Construction Document drawings, including envelope detailing

Excellent understanding of the Vancouver Building Bylaw, BC Building Code and the Municipal Zoning Regulations

CanBIM registration presents an advantage

The ability to work to ISO 9000 standards

Well-developed understanding of current building systems and materials

A passion for accuracy and organization

A collaborative and flexible approach

Experience as a team player and active contributor

Excellent problem-solving and time management skills

This is what the position entails

Working with a team of architects and intern architects to deliver project documentation requirements through all project phases

Understanding office standards for drafting and documentation

Storyboarding suites of architectural drawings at SD, DD, and CD phase

Managing progress of drawing completion relative to project schedules

Ensuring coordination between Drawings and Specifications

Ownership of the completeness of architectural drawings assigned

Acting in the capacity of BIM Manager for specific projects

BIM Execution Plan – Assisting with the editing and issuing of the BIM Execution Plan to Client and Consultants

Specialized Family Creation - curation and creation of unique families that a specific project may require, often adapting prototypical standard families from SHAPE’s Library

Ongoing Auditing, Editing and Archiving - At regular intervals, and at the closeout of each Project Phase, the BIM Model is to be audited and edited to remove outdated or excessive sheets, views, attachments, and other data.

File Sharing - Acting as primary point of contact for the distribution of updated iterations of the BIM Model in ongoing Consultant Coordination

Experience with BIM modelling interfacing with Prefabricated workflows

Assistance with Contract Administration by providing drafting updates that may be required for Supplemental Instructions

Participation in SHAPE’s BIM Committee, which oversees BIM and Drawing Standards for the office
