Job summary

BKL Consultants Ltd. is seeking a Senior Architectural Acoustics Consultant to join our Burnaby, BC office on a full-time, permanent basis.

You will direct high-profile projects in Western Canada, mentor senior consultants, and collaborate with regulatory bodies to elevate acoustical practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of consulting experience in acoustics, with a focus on architectural/building acoustics and environmental noise/vibration assessment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Acoustics, Audio Technology or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines with professionalism.
  • Strong technical understanding of acoustics and ability to engage stakeholders to influence policy and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Direct team to own project lifecycles from proposal to data analysis, reporting and client management.
  • Lead and mentor a team of acoustical consultants and collaborate with leadership.
  • Represent BKL at meetings and public forums to advocate for acoustics in private and public sectors.
  • Write and present technical reports, publish research, and lead seminars to shape acoustics in Western Canada.

What You’ll Do
  • Project Oversight: Direct our team to take full ownership of project lifecycles, from proposal preparation to data analysis and report delivery, and client management.
  • Collaborate and Mentor: Lead and mentor a team of acoustical consultants, while working closely with BKL’s leadership, administrators and other professionals to meet project goals.
  • Advocate for Acoustics: Represent BKL at meetings and public forums, acting as an advocate for the promotion of acoustics in both private and public sectors.
  • Thought Leadership: Write and present technical reports, publish research, and lead seminars to help shape the future of acoustics in Western Canada.
  • Client Management: Positively impact current and future clients and the projects they bring to BKL by providing world class technical expertise and sales support.
What You’ll Bring to the Job
  • A minimum of 15 years of consulting experience in acoustics, with a focus on architectural and building acoustics and experience with environmental noise and vibration assessment.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Acoustics, Audio Technology or a related field.

  • Experience with acoustical modelling software, test equipment, and methodologies for sound and vibration measurements.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC procedures in a consulting environment.
What We Offer
  • Annual salary of $120,000 to $150,000 with overtime paid at time-and-a-half.
