Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking a Senior Acoustics Consultant to lead acoustics and multidisciplinary projects from remote in Toronto, ON. You will mentor teammates, manage timelines, and coordinate with clients across Canada and the USA on urban and suburban projects.

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of experience in acoustics design and measurements for the built environment.
  • Self-motivated, independent, and able to manage time and multiple projects/deadlines concurrently.
  • Experience in environmental and architectural acoustics, field measurement, and on-site construction observation.
  • Ability to design and prepare acoustics reports, conduct drawings reviews, perform calculations related to sound isolation, noise control and room acoustics, and interact with clients and design team daily.
  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or STEM fields.
  • Skills and experience in computer modelling (SoundPlan).
  • Experience in vibration measurement is a plus.
  • Desire to work on multi-discipline projects with talented design teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Senior Acoustics Consultant (Remote in Toronto, ON)

Our acoustics team is growing rapidly, and you can be part of this growth. We work on interesting and high-quality projects, and you will be working with some of the best engineers and architects in the USA. Our highly active markets include data centers, sports venues, performance and entertainment venues, healthcare, hospitality, corporate, residential and education projects.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as acoustics lead or Project Manager on wide variety of acoustics and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Assist, support and mentor other acoustics team members.
  • Lead and support acoustics projects in Canada.
  • Assist with business development opportunities and new relationship opportunities in Canada and the United States.
Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience in environmental and architectural acoustics, field measurement, and on‑site construction observation. This position will focus on environmental acoustics experience, particularly with mechanical and power generation equipment located in urban and suburban environments.
  • The ability to design and prepare acoustics reports, conduct drawing reviews, perform calculations related to sound isolation, noise control and room acoustics, prepare schedules and specifications, and interact with clients and design team members on a daily basis.
  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in engineering or other STEM fields.
  • Skills and experience in computer modelling (SoundPlan).
  • Experience in vibration measurement is a plus.
  • A desire to work on multi‑discipline projects with talented design teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently.

Remote, within the Greater Toronto Area

Travel

Up to 25%

The expected base salary range for this role is $120,000 - $135,000 CAD per year or more depending on experience. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.

This role is also eligible for performance‑based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including:
