About the Firm
We’re excited to be partnered with a highly regarded boutique architecture studio based in downtown Victoria, BC. With a growing reputation for thoughtful, design-led work, this firm is deeply rooted in the local context prioritizing placemaking, sustainability, and design integrity across all its projects. Their portfolio spans adaptive reuse, multifamily residential, custom homes, commercial spaces, and civic/community buildings.

The studio’s approach is grounded in open dialogue, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating built environments that are both functional and inspiring. Their collaborative size means everyone is involved in the creative process and has a seat at the table. As new projects continue to be secured, many through word-of-mouth and long-standing client relationships, the firm is looking to bring on a Senior Architect who is ready to step into a leadership role.

Why Join This Team?
This is an opportunity to join a close-knit, design-focused studio with a strong local presence and a long-term vision for growth. You’ll work directly with the principal and senior staff, leading projects from start to finish, mentoring younger designers, and shaping the evolution of the studio. The team works across all phases offering you the chance to stay creatively engaged throughout the life of a project.

You’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid work model with one day remote, an informal and supportive atmosphere, and the chance to work on meaningful architecture that enhances the communities of Vancouver Island. Leadership is approachable, open to new ideas, and genuinely invested in the long-term success of their team.

About the Role
We’re seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Architect (or Intern Architect on the path to registration) with strong design leadership, technical ability, and a collaborative mindset. This role offers the chance to take ownership of projects, guide less experienced team members, and play a strategic role as the firm continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects across all phases from schematic design to construction administration.

  • Collaborate closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and municipal staff.

  • Provide design direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff.

  • Oversee production of permit and construction drawing packages.

  • Review shop drawings, coordinate site reviews, and issue field instructions.

  • Ensure design and documentation meets local codes and firm quality standards.

  • Support business development through proposals and client presentations (as needed).

Qualifications

  • Registered Architect (AIBC) or actively pursuing registration.

  • 6–10+ years of relevant experience in an architecture practice.

  • Strong proficiency in Revit; AutoCAD and SketchUp

  • Solid understanding of the BC Building Code, zoning bylaws, and permitting processes.

  • Demonstrated experience leading projects independently and as part of a team.

  • Clear communicator with strong coordination, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Interest in sustainable design and thoughtful, community-oriented work.

What’s On Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience

  • Professional development support, including AIBC fees and continuing education.

  • Flexible hybrid schedule with 4days in-studio and work-from-home flexibility.

  • A supportive, growth-focused culture with real opportunities for advancement.

  • The chance to lead meaningful, design oriented projects and help shape a growing, respected practice.
