Role Overview:
The Senior Architect will support the portfolio's vision to re-imagine our digital and virtual assets, creating a better, more connected healthcare system, and fostering a citizen-centered, digital-first mindset. They will support the Digital Excellence in Health (DxH) digital and transformation strategy, working closely with stakeholders to deliver IT solutions that meet business outcomes across a complex landscape. The role involves designing DxH’s business and operating models and building transformation capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create architectures, roadmaps, and plans for interconnecting OH products and services within the provincial vision.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in specialized areas such as laboratories, digital identity, data, etc.
- Support understanding of OH products and services among internal stakeholders.
- Maintain relationships with external organizations and communities of practice.
- Guide and influence product owners and vendors to align solutions with Ontario Health’s digital vision.
- Mentor junior and peer architects, enhancing their knowledge of solution architecture and healthcare domains.
- Translate business requirements into architectural designs.
- Contribute to architecture processes, templates, and procedures.
- Support product management with roadmaps and architectural alignment.
- Lead projects within a domain, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and deliver visionary and tactical solutions for product initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Advise on project planning and dependencies to ensure timely delivery.
- Identify and address cross-product gaps and promote reuse and alignment.
- Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their needs and impacts.
- Assist in defining non-functional requirements and ensuring quality standards.
- Provide thought leadership and influence project teams to align with architectural principles.
- Lead change initiatives within the domain or product.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT or equivalent experience.
- 5-7 years in an IT environment as an Architect, preferably in healthcare.
- Expertise in health IT systems, enterprise architecture frameworks, and healthcare standards like HL7 V2 and FHIR.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s health system, privacy regulations, and data governance.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and health care interoperability.
Skills:
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.
- Capacity to stay current with industry trends and translate them into strategic initiatives.
- Experience in managing multiple projects and stakeholder expectations.
- Understanding of privacy, security standards, and health information management principles.
