Job description

Cabin Resource Managements Ltd. is seeking a Senior Archaeologist for its growing Heritage Division.

Our Heritage Division adopts innovative, anti-colonial practices that promote reconciliation and foster trust with First Nations partners. We offer services across all project phases, including private land assemblies and forestry developments, ensuring compliance and integrating Indigenous community collaborators throughout project lifecycles to support social, cultural, and economic needs. Our team uses digital tools and technology to record, analyze, and learn from the past, aiming to develop systems for a sustainable future. Responsibilities :

  1. Conduct fieldwork including surveys, monitoring, and data recovery excavations.
  2. Assist in cost estimation and proposal preparation.
  3. Coordinate with field staff, GIS staff, and senior management.

Support Divisions :

  1. Liaise and coordinate with First Nations on a project basis.
  2. Handle field preparations and logistical support.
  3. Compile and submit Provincial site inventory records.
  4. Write, review, and edit reports such as AOA, PFR, AIA interim and final reports.
  5. Contribute to innovative, community-guided cultural heritage management practices.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in archaeology or anthropology.
  • BC Archaeology Branch-approved Field Director status for the Interior Plateau Cultural Zone (or close to obtaining).
  • Eligibility to hold permits; province-wide permit holding preferred.
  • Canadian citizenship or valid work permit.
  • Valid BC driver's license (Class 5 or higher).
  • Willingness to travel and spend time away from home.
  • Compliance with Cabin’s OH&S system.
  • WCB OFA Level 1 certification; transportation endorsement is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Problem-solving skills and effective time management.
  • Ability to conduct fieldwork under strenuous conditions and rough terrain.
  • Experience with budgeting, technical report writing, and familiarity with the Heritage Conservation Act and BC Archaeology Branch policies.
