Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Principal Aquatics Specialist to provide strategic and technical leadership for the aquatics practice across Canada. The role includes directing projects from proposal through construction, mentoring staff, and guiding regulatory submissions while coordinating with regulators and clients.

The successful candidate will have 20+ years of aquatics experience, advanced degrees in aquatic studies, and a proven track record in environmental consulting within Western Canada.

Qualifications

• 20+ years of experience as an Aquatic Biologist in Western Canada or similar contexts.
• Experience leading aquatic projects and mentoring teams.
• Strong knowledge of Fisheries Act and related environmental legislation.
• Excellent technical writing and ability to review/edit technical deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for aquatics assessments, permitting, monitoring, and regulatory compliance.
• Lead complex technical challenges and support project teams with specialized expertise.
• Mentor staff and contribute to team capacity, capability development, and knowledge sharing.
• Support business development from a technical perspective including proposal input and client relations.
