Senior API Platform Solutions Design Engineer (Kafka)

Role Summary

We’re seeking an eager, self-motivated developer to join our innovative team. This role focuses on delivering APIs in a unique way within the Canadian insurance industry. You will be a key member in defining next-generation solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, deploy, and roll out components of our Enterprise Event Hub Platforms, both on-premise and cloud-based.
• Maintain and improve core infrastructure supporting event-driven development, including Kafka Connect, schemas, logging, and exception handling.
• Utilize the API Platform CI / CD pipeline for event hub lifecycle management.
• Create and update technical documentation, including architecture diagrams and troubleshooting guides.
• Enhance scalability and performance of the CDC solutions.
• Identify and resolve platform defects and issues.
• Apply best practices around continuous integration and delivery.
• 8+ years of Java programming experience.
• 3+ years of experience with Apache or Confluent Kafka.
• Experience with Kafka Streams and Kafka Connectors.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and data streaming.
• Experience with REST APIs and event-driven solutions.
• Experience with DevOps, Kubernetes, and AWS Cloud.
• Proactive, inquisitive, and eager to learn.
• Understanding of modern event architectures like event sourcing and SAGA patterns.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Kafka infrastructure and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with CI / CD tools like Jenkins, Groovy, and solutions like Spring Boot.
• Understanding of financial services and insurance sectors.

Additional Information
