What You'll Do

Epic Games is searching for a Senior Animator to join our team working on Fortnite Cosmetics. You'll create original animation with a strong emphasis on style and appeal grounded in realistic world physics. You will need a strong understanding of animation fundamentals and acting, how they relate to game animation, and the ability to work in Unreal Engine with ease. You will also need a strong sense of gameplay feel and timing in relation to game design principles in Fortnite.

In this role, you will

• Your main priority will be creating animations for the Cosmetics team. In addition to animating in Maya, you will also be animating and working in Unreal Engine
• Take animation from the initial concept through implementation in Unreal Engine 5
• Drive collaboration across disciplines, including Production, Design, Technical Animation, Technical Design, and implementation, to help drive the style and feel of Fortnite's animation
• Collaborate with leads in a dailies-style critique environment, find optimal solutions, and address basic issues as they arise
• Refine animations and gameplay feel as needed to get the best quality animation within the timeline

What we're looking for

• A strong animation reel showing expertise in keyframe animation, and any other form of animation creation, including mocap
• Excellent communicator and problem solver
• Relevant experience in Maya and Unreal gameplay systems
• Good instincts for realistic and stylized motions
• Strong performance/acting choices
• Familiarity with the Unreal Engine 5 animation workflow
• Experience with providing feedback for modeling, skinning, and rigging in relation to animation
• Experience shipping at least one AAA title
• Experience working with Motion Capture is a plus
