About the workplace

As a Senior Analyst Treasury Funding and Operations, you will be responsible for demonstrating effective price discovery, trade execution, and valuation of interest rate swaps, bond forwards and FX derivatives to support Treasury approved strategies. The Sr. Analyst should have an expert knowledge on macroeconomic trends along above average communication skills to translate market developments into Treasury actions.

This is an 18-month contract role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work in-office at least once a week.

A typical day would involve:

  • Monitor all capital markets as presented in the Board policies and leverage in-depth
  • knowledge/understanding of these sectors to enable timely execution/hedging of FX trades, interest rate swaps and bond forward transactions. Transact in alignment with portfolio objectives that mitigate negative market/balance sheet implications, while maintaining an understanding of their mark-to-market positions to protect/preserve value.
  • Produce daily economic commentaries to a list of prescribing members. Act as a primary
  • resource person to all lines of businesses for macro economic forecasts. Specifc area of
  • expertise to include insights to Foreign Exchange, Interest rates and Bond rates.
  • Monitor and deploy cash management and funding transactions in real-time and in alignment with Vancity's liquidity needs.
  • Produce regular/on-demand data support, analytics and reporting of cash ow forecasts, hedging transactions and IR/FX derivative positions to enable better decision making in the management of Treasury portfolios and related activities.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with counterparty, correspondent banks and external stakeholders (i.e., CMHC and Central1) in support of Vancity's liquidity, interest rate and foreign exchange hedging objectives.
  • Provide technical coaching, guidance and support to the Treasury Risk and Trading team.
  • Oversight and execution of securitization activities, including but not limited to the issuance and management of Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMB) and Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) pools, as well as the administration of Vancity's counterparty credit facilities. The successful candidate will also be accountable for maintaining the system of record relied upon by accounting to ensure the integrity and accuracy of asset and liability data, which is essential for financial reporting and strategic decision-making.
You have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CFA designation is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in capital markets, treasury operations, or financial analysis with demonstrated expertise in interest rate swaps, bond forwards, and FX derivatives.
  • Deep understanding of macroeconomic principles and trends, with the ability to translate complex market developments into actionable Treasury strategies.
  • Strong working knowledge of capital markets, liquidity management, and risk mitigation techniques.
  • Proficiency in producing economic commentary and financial reporting for diverse audiences, including senior leadership and cross-functional business units.
  • Experience with real-time cash management and funding strategies aligned with organizational liquidity requirements.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
  • Experience with treasury systems or analytical tools (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, Calypso, or similar) is an asset.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to act as a resource and thought partner for internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The salary range for this role is $81,200 to $122,000 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
