Job Description

The Public Markets Middle Office PnL team is accountable for ensuring all derivative based strategies are executed in an effective and efficient manner, from trade execution to maturity. The team is cross-asset and responsible for the reconciliation and reporting of PnL for all strategies within public markets. Additionally, the team also provide support for setup and maintenance of rate curves that are used for the valuation of all derivative products.

Job Summary

As a Senior Analyst, Investment Operations you will support either the public or private Investment teams with transaction management, asset servicing, investment accounting, reporting and valuations. You will also assist with the day-to-day evaluation, accounting, and monitoring of relevant investment portfolios, covering all asset classes and security types.

Accountabilities

Partner with colleagues from the Investment Departments, Finance, Legal, and Risk to assist in investment closings through documentation review, system setups, transaction entries and settlements.

  • Assist in daily trading and deal activity to facilitate settlement and cash related events.
  • Support and manage lifecycle of transactions and deal pipeline and asset servicing; ensure investments are accurately always represented, track upcoming activity, reconcile records, and process activities.
  • Assist in processing complex investments with the ability to understand impact on trading, portfolio construction, reporting and performance.
  • Assist in the quarterly/ monthly valuation review; ensure valuation adjustments are accurately recorded and bring any errors/ inconsistencies to management’s attention. Provide insightful valuation analysis.
  • Identify and promptly escalate irregular activities or issues and assist management in determining corrective action.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Continually strive for operational excellence; seek ways to streamline processes and create operational efficiencies. Maintain an ongoing effective working relationship with internal investment staff and external asset managers to ensure issues are discussed and resolved, operational and financial controls and reporting requirements are met.
  • Manage day to day start of day and end of day positions and recordkeeping for Investment book of record and sub-ledgers.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of automated tools or scripts that enhance daily operations, data reconciliation, or reporting processes.
  • Support efforts to streamline and improve operational workflows through technology-enabled solutions, including the exploratory use of Generative AI tools for drafting communications, summarizing documents, or supporting reporting functions.
  • Leverage basic coding or data manipulation techniques (e.g., Python, VBA, SQL) and GenAI applications as complements to manual processes, where relevant and practical.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree or college diploma in related field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Professional designations such as a CBV, CFA, CPA are considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, financial and management accounting skills will be necessary to perform this role.
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfortable learning new systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong team player who enjoys a challenging performance culture
  • Strong time management and organization skills
  • Readily adapt to a rapidly changing investment business and technology environments
  • Self-motivated, flexible, adaptable
  • Experience with coding or scripting languages such as Python, VBA, or SQL is considered an asset.
  • Experience using Generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot) to support document generation, reporting, or analytical summaries is considered an asset.
