Qualifications

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Real Estate Portfolio Strategy team defines, plans, and coordinates the execution of the Real Estate team’s investment strategy. This includes setting deployment targets, and providing research, models, and tools to evaluate investments, markets, and sectors. The team is also responsible for communicating details around Real Estate performance, strategy and deployments to senior management and other internal stakeholders at PSP.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Analyst, Portfolio Strategy, you will be responsible for analyzing the portfolio’s performance, producing research to evaluate our portfolio geographic and sectoral positioning, and assisting in updating our investment strategy.

Research and Analytics

  • Participate in the elaboration of sector/geographic convictions and other major considerations related to our long-term return and risk assessment

  • Perform analysis on high level themes and trends impacting Real Estate

  • Work with Real Estate investment teams on research of new investment or new sector, region, or investment themes

  • Participate whenever required on various quantitative analysis and data curation needs for the team

Portfolio Reporting and Monitoring

  • Produce portfolio analysis and reporting, including performance, risk, capital and business planning

  • Support various PSP stakeholders’ initiatives requiring Real Estate’s input and analysis

Portfolio Strategy & Portfolio Construction

  • Participate in the recommendation and implementation of improvements in portfolio construction

  • Support the team in portfolio construction initiatives that will have an impact on allocation decisions. (Sector convictions, partner tiering, risk / return framework, modeling, etc.)

WHAT YOU’LL NEED
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance or other related fields

  • Professional designation such as CFA considered an asset

  • Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant working experience, preferably in an institutional environment

  • Knowledge of institutional Real Estate Investments, an asset

  • Strong understanding of financial markets and investment strategies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, ability to query and manipulate datasets (i.e. Snowflake, Excel)

  • Programming skills (primarily Python, SQL or equivalent) considered an asset

  • Experience with business intelligence systems (i.e. Power BI, Tableau) considered an asset

  • Demonstrated initiative and curiosity to look beyond surface facts and conduct comprehensive, fact-based, value-added research

  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively

  • Proficiency in English and French (or willingness to learn) *Frequent interactions in English with PSP employees based in our offices in Hong Kong, London and New York, and interactions in French with employees in our local offices in Montreal and Ottawa
