GENERAL FUNCTION

Momentum is on a mission to reshape the collections experience—making it more personalized, proactive, and effective. As a Senior Analyst – Collections (Loss Mitigation Tools & Segmentation), you will design and optimize the tools and strategies used to reduce loan losses while helping customers find their way back to financial health. This role blends data science, risk management, and strategic design to ensure that loss mitigation solutions are both effective and customer-centric.

You will develop segmentation logic, manage strategy deployment, and measure performance across a range of tools such as payment plans, deferments, settlements, and hardship relief programs.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and refine segmentation frameworks that identify and target customer groups based on risk, behavior, repayment capacity, and hardship signals.
  • Integrate predictive analytics to prioritize accounts for appropriate mitigation treatments.
  • Define eligibility criteria, trigger logic, and outcome metrics for loss mitigation solutions.
  • Support the ideation, rollout, and monitoring of scalable mitigation tools including:
  • Extended repayment options
  • Settlement offers
  • Hardship relief programs
  • Partner with IT, Product, Retail, and Legal/Compliance to translate strategies into decisioning systems and customer-facing solutions.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization
    • Design dashboards and recurring analytics to evaluate treatment effectiveness (e.g., cure rates, roll rates, re-default rates, net loss impact).
    • Run A/B and multivariate testing on segmentation and tool performance.
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and propose tactical or systemic enhancements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Act as a bridge between analytics, operations, and technology—ensuring loss mitigation strategies are executable, compliant, and aligned with company goals.
    • Present clear, data-backed insights and recommendations to senior leadership.

EDUCATION

  • Master’s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Finance, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.

EXPERIENCE

  • 4+ years in Financial Services, with a focus on Collections, Credit Risk, or Loan Servicing Analytics.
  • Demonstrated experience designing segmentation strategies or treatment frameworks using large-scale data.
  • Prior work with hardship or loss mitigation programs strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one statistical tool/language such as Python, R, or SAS.
  • Experience with decisioning systems, collections platforms, or customer management tools is a plus.

SKILLS

  • Analytical rigor with a problem-solving mindset.
  • Ability to balance business objectives, risk appetite, and customer outcomes.
  • Strong communication skills; able to simplify complex data into actionable strategy.
  • Independent and resourceful, with experience managing cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage ambiguity in a fast-paced setting.
