Job summary

Manitoba Hydro is seeking a Senior Analyst, Grid Modernization to provide integrated planning, coordination, and reporting across grid modernization programs. You will consolidate schedules, financials, risks, and interdependencies to support governance and informed decision making.

The role requires a minimum six years of related experience, a relevant degree, and strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and report on program performance, including progress against plan, risks, issues, and interdependencies.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools for clear visibility into status, financials, and outcomes.
• Support governance processes by preparing materials for leadership reviews and approvals.
• Perform financial tracking, variance analysis, and forecasting with Finance partners.

Position Overview:

The Senior Analyst, Grid Modernization provides integrated planning, coordination, and reporting support across grid modernization programs and initiatives. This role consolidates schedules, financials, risks, and interdependencies across multiple projects to support informed decision-making, effective governance, and overall program performance visibility.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and integrate program-level schedules, milestones, and deliverables across grid modernization initiatives.
• Monitor and report on program performance, including progress against plan, risks, issues, and interdependencies.
• Establish and maintain RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) logs and ensure appropriate escalation and mitigation strategies.
• Support governance processes by preparing materials for leadership reviews, steering committees, and approvals.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools to provide clear visibility into program status, financials, and outcomes.
• Perform financial tracking, variance analysis, and forecasting in collaboration with Finance Business Partners.
• Support regulatory, audit, and reporting requirements by ensuring documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.
• Maintain decision logs and ensure traceability of key decisions and approvals.
• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of program governance and control frameworks.
• Analyze data and provide insights to support strategic and operational decision-making.
• Ensure alignment of program activities with corporate priorities, compliance requirements, and capital planning processes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration or other relevant discipline from an institute of recognized standing with a minimum of six years of related experience;
• OR
• An equivalent combination of related education and experience.
• An understanding of the operation of Manitoba Hydro's generation system including hydro system capabilities and limitations and Manitoba Hydro's transmission interconnections into the export marketplaces would be an asset.
• Experience conducting detailed project evaluations would be an asset.
• Strategic thinker, problem solver, and results oriented. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
• Possess a thorough understanding of and demonstrated ability to apply economic and strategic evaluation methods.
• Must be capable of adapting to rapidly changing conditions both within Manitoba Hydro and the energy marketplace.
• Must be prepared for occasional travel outside of the Province of Manitoba for inter-utility and other marketing related meetings and activities.
• Possess a strong but pleasant and tactful personality and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Possess a high degree of initiative, a demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment, innovative, diplomatic and possess mature judgment.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $48.74-$67.29 Hourly, $93,398.24-$128,947.78 Annually.
