Job description

The Senior Analyst, Fund Operations will be part of a dynamic and knowledgeable team with a variety and distinct responsibilities ranging from Funding & Trading, Fund on Fund capital stock allocations, projects and system release enhancements. The successful candidate should have a good background and knowledge of operations fund lifecycle, including client transfer agent systems and process, accounting skills, and an ability to build relationships with the impacted stakeholders.

The primary responsibilities of the incumbent are to support various Canadian Wealth Business Funding and Trading activities, Fund Initiatives, and actively seeking operational efficiencies to support internal and external stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform / support VPA Application and Monitor/Review all input and output files including all controls to ensure Fund Operation functions, Funding and Trading are processed accurately within tight deadlines.
  • Provide support on all day-to-day operational activities / tasks.
  • Analysis, research and troubleshoot issues, develop options to be assessed by Management.
  • Participate in Fund Initiatives and Projects that have impact to daily Fund Operations. Review/assess requests to ensure they are properly aligned to Project requirements.
  • Assist in daily / weekly / monthly reviews and sign offs.
  • Provide and answer inquiries from NAV Agents, Custodians and external / Internal stakeholders.
  • Actively Work with Fund Operations, Support team to increase process efficiencies in all Admin functions.
  • Evaluate, recommend and develop tools, practices and controls increase operational efficiency and quality of information.
  • Provide timely information to auditors.
  • Provide guidance and support to other team members to ensure timely and accurate delivery of daily trade instructions and funding.
  • Ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business administration with a minimum of five 5 years relevant operations or business experience in the financial industry.
  • Strong knowledge of information systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and individually.
  • Demonstrate initiative and take responsibility.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to react quickly, adapt to changes and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Identifies, implements and maintains controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Can adequately represent the team at inter-departmental meetings, projects and process improvements brainstorming.
  • Must be resourceful and a self-starter.
  • Flexible start time. Should be able to start at 7:00am.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be controls oriented, experience with risk and controls assessment, an asset.
  • Operational background or understanding of operational environment, an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Manulife funds and products, Mutual Fund industry, or fund NAV calculation an asset.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.

Primary Location: Montreal, Quebec

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Salary range is expected to be between: $69,750.00 CAD - $116,250.00 CAD
